On the morning of January 8, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council held the 2018 National Science and Technology Award Conference in Beijing. Leaders of the Party and the State attended the conference and presented awards to the awarded delegates. A total of 278 projects and 7 experts were awarded the 2018 National Science and Technology Award through the evaluation of discipline and specialty evaluation group, evaluation committee and award committee.

CSU has won the 2018 National Science and Technology Award for 10 scientific research achievements, covering geophysics, rail transit, surveying and mapping, metallurgy, mineral processing, clinical pharmacology and other disciplines. Among them, as the first completed unit, CSU has won 7 awards, participated in the completion of 3 award-winning projects, the total number of awards ranked fourth in the national universities, and the number of awards as the first completed unit ranked third in the national universities.

The project of "Large Depth, High Precision and Wide Area Electromagnetic Exploration Technology and Equipment" led by academician He Jishan has won the first prize of national technological invention.

"Central South University Rail Transit Aerodynamic and Collision Safety Technological Innovation Team" won the National Science and Technology Progress (Innovation Team) Award, achieving the breakthrough of CSU in the zero award.

The project of "Tungsten Smelting New Technology Based on Synergistic Leaching of Sulphur-Phosphorus Mixed Acids" presided over by Professor Zhao Zhongwei, the project of "Key Technologies for Resource Treatment of Waste Metal Smelting Acids" presided over by Professor Chai Liyuan, the project of "Flotation Interface Assembly Technology and Application of Tungsten-Fluoride-Phosphorus Strategic Mineral Resources" presided over by Professor Hu Yuehua, the project of "Key Technologies and Applications of InSAR Millimeter Surface Deformation Monitoring" presided over by Professor Zhu Jianjun, and the project of "Individualized Hypertension Therapy Strategies, Products and Promotion and Application Based on Pharmacogenomics" presided over by Academician Zhou Honghao won the second prize of National Science and Technology Progress.

 Professor Yao Shuqiao won the second prize of National Natural Science in the award-winning project of "Research on Brain Connection Mechanism of Functional Imaging" which was completed by our university. The project of "Key Technologies and Industrialization of Green Cycle of Electronic Waste" led by Professor Guo Xueyi and the project of "Key Technologies and Equipment for Clean Smelting and Efficient Utilization of Zinc" participated by Professor Liu Zhihong won the second prize of National Science and Technology Progress.
