A Contract Signed by CSU and the University of Orleans, France to Build A Confucius Institute

From December 4 to 5, the 13th Global Confucius Institute Conference was held in Chengdu. More than 1500 delegates from 154 countries and regions attended the conference. The theme of this conference is "Reform, innovation and development, work together to create the future". Sun Chunlan, Vice Premier of the State Council and Chairman of the Headquarters Council of Confucius Institute, and Chen Baosheng, Minister of Education, attended the opening ceremony.


During the meeting, 10 new Confucius Institutes were signed. Vice Minister of Education Tian Xuejun and President Tian Hongqi of CSU attended and witnessed the signing of the agreement between Ma Jianfei, Vice Director of the Headquarters of Confucius Institution and Vice Director of the National Office of Han Dynasty, and Ary Bruand, President of the University of Orleans, France, to build the Confucius Institution of the CSU, China.

Tian Xuejun hopes that the new Confucius Institutes will uphold the motto of "mutual respect, friendly consultation, equality and mutual benefit", strengthen support, consolidate the basis of cooperation, continuously improve the quality and level of running Confucius Institutes, and make due contributions to promoting cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries, enhancing friendship between Chinese and foreign people and promoting the construction of a community of human destiny.

The University of Orleans is located in Orleans, capital of the central region of Loire Province, France. It was founded by Royal Clemente V in 1306. It is a well-known international institution of higher learning with a long history. It has departments of economic law, management, biology, historical geography, language, literature, foreign languages, mathematics, physics, chemistry, computer science and geology. At present, it has more than 17,000 students. The Confucius Institute of the University of Orleans is the second Confucius Institute built by CSU.
