Chinese Government Friendship Award Awarded to CSU Foreign Professor Fred Seb

The awarding ceremony of “Chinese Government Friendship Award, 2017” was held in the Great Hall of the People on September 29. Professor Fred Seb, honorary doctor of CSU, honorary professor of CSU school of Civil Engineering, member of the American National Engineering Academy, the Australian National Engineering as well as foreign academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering was invited to the ceremony as an award winner. Zhang Jianguo, director of State Bureau of Foreign Experts Affairs announced the award winners. CPC Politburo member and Vice Premier Ma Kai, awarded the foreign experts and delivered a speech.





On October 1, CSU President Tian Hongqi met the Seb’s in Changsha, extending her congratulations on the award and her thanks for the professor’s long-term cooperation with CSU. She also expressed her hope for Professor Seb’s further cooperation with CSU so as to build it into a first-class university with first-class disciplines. The meeting was co-attended by Vice President Zhou Kechao, Directors of International Cooperation and Exchange Office and the School of Civil Engineering.

Chinese Government Friendship Award, authorized by the State Council, was officially established in 1991 by the State Bureau of Foreign Experts Affairs. It is awarded to 50 foreign experts with remarkable contribution to China’s modernization every year. This year, as usual, the Award was won by 50 foreign experts from 21 countries.
