Before the final, the CSU Debate Team topped other 16 teams from Hunan Province. Then, as the provincial champion, the CSU Debate Team earned a place in the rematch, which was participated by 36 debate teams from such universities as Peking University, Fudan University and Sun Yat-sen University. In the rematch, CSU defeated Lanzhou University, Nankai University, and Northwest University of Politics and Law successively, rendering itself a national final four.

The final competition adopted an accumulative scoring system, during which the CSU Team debated over the topic of “Does the Content Outweigh the Form in Drug Prevention Education?” with the team from Wuhan University and “Do Drug Users Have Equal Rights with Others?” with the team from Nanjing University. Finally, CSU defeated the team from Northwest University of Politics and Law and won the national third place. It is worth noting that the CSU Debate Team also exclusively prided itself with an extraordinary performance of complete victories in all eight games it involved.
